The future of a Seven Kings nightclub will be decided at a licensing hearing which starts today (Monday).

Police called for an emergency review of the premises licence at the Shannon Centre, Cameron Road, last month after an incident in which gunshots were fired near the entrance to the building, which houses Berties nightclub, O’Connors bar and the Rayyan Banqueting Lounge.

Met Police said nobody had been injured in the early hours incident and it later emerged the gun was an imitation firearm.

In an application for an expedited – fast-track – review, Redbridge Police licensing officer Pc Alan Felix said policing had been “seriously undermined” and called for the licence to be revoked as the venue is associated with “both serious crime and serious disorder”.

But businesses neighbouring the venue lent their support, saying it was not the Shannon Centre’s fault an incident had happened outside.
