Travellers who settled on a green in Chigwell last week have been visited by authorities, while legal proceedings to evict them are underway.

Officers from Essex Police and Epping Forest district council (EFDC) today carried out a site visit at an unauthorised traveller encampment in Chigwell.

Four caravans arrived on a green off Manor Road on Friday, October 21.

The land is owned by EFDC which is now progressing with legal proceedings to remove the encampment.

Officers are monitoring the situation and liaising with partners.
