More than six police officers helped to hold a man down on the floor in Redbridge after a woman was robbed.

Four police cars sped down Redbridge Lane East to the corner of Margaret way to detain a man in connection with the incident, today (Tuesday, June 19).

A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called at approximately 11.35am to reports of a woman who had been the victim of a personal robbery in Eastern Avenue, Redbridge.

“The victim was not injured.

“A short while later officers detained a man in nearby Margaret Way in connection with this incident.”
Police dogs were also used while detaining the man and he has been “taken to hospital as a precaution”.
Officers told the Recorder that inquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.
