The BMW car was blocking the pavement on Eastern Avenue this morning, causing residents who were travelling on foot to step onto the busy A12 eastbound road.

An officer was dispatched to the scene to help pedestrians navigate the obstacle.

“We were called to reports of a collision, damage only, at 21.02pm,” a Met Police spokesman said.

“Because the road is very busy we sent an officer down as a precaution until the vehicle is moved.”
