It was a nice day for a paddle on Saturday and the Met Police’s Marine Division did just that at Eagle Pond in Snaresbrook.
The team entered the water, in Snaresbrook Road, as part of a routine search for a missing person.
But the only sightings in the pond were the local wildlife, including ducks, swans and an exotic terrapin basking on a log in the sun.
A police spokesman said: “There were no reports of anyone entering the water but it is routine to seach when there are reports of a missing person in the area.
“A lot of people think the unit only covers the Thames but they deal with any incidents in London.”
