Police appeal after man ambushed by gang and stabbed in Ilford

A man was ambushed and stabbed several times in a street yesterday morning.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after the 21-year-old was found by officers following the incident in Belgrave Road, Ilford, at the junction with Northbrook Road, at about 4am.

Det Insp John Delaney said: “It appears that the victim was driving his vehicle and was forced to stop by other vehicles.

“The male [victim] crashed as he tried to exit the scene.

“The victim got out and was assaulted by a group of males and received several stab wounds.”

Details of the group of men and their vehicles are not known by police.

The victim is recovering at an east London hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.

Police inquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
