A Muslim primary school could open its doors in 2017 if plans are given the go-ahead.

Al-Noor Foundation – which already runs Al-Noor Muslim Primary School, Green Lane, Goodmayes – has put forward proposals to build a voluntary aided primary school, which will provide places for 420 pupils by 2022.

In a notice posted to the Al-Noor’s website, trustee Daud Juneja said: “The new school will be a primary school providing high quality education with a Muslim ethos serving the whole community.

“The proposed school will have a Muslim religious character and it is confirmed that the proposer intends to ask the secretary of state to designate the school as a school with such a religious character.”

Visit al-noor.co.uk to view the proposals.

Anyone who wants to make a representation regarding the plans should email alnoor.representations@redbridge.gov.uk

The deadline is July 23.
