Smoke-filled corridors reveal the scale of the fire which broke out in a tenth-storey flat in Woodford Green on Saturday.
The “very intense” blaze has completely destroyed a flat in the high rise building in Liston Way, on the Orchard Estate, as well as causing damage to the two adjacent properties.
Electrics in the building are being checked after 81 firefighters were called to the premises shortly before 11am.
Watch manager at Woodford fire station, Darren Horrigan, said: “On arrival there was live smoke coming out of the flat and the fire was very, very intense.
“The flat was completely consumed so a lot of water was needed to put the flames out.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
