Volunteers donned gloves and overalls to help members of the borough's nature conservation team tidy a park last week.

On Thursday morning, a group of green-fingered volunteers joined the Roding Valley Park Warden to help remove litter and cut back weeds and bushes.

The morning was just one of many frequently organised by Redbridge’s Nature Conservation Team.

Julia Coulson, one of the borough’s nature conservation rangers, said: “It’s really important to us that people feel like they can volunteer and help clean up the local environment.

“It’s a good social experience, and a great way to meet new people.

“And there’s free tea and biscuits!”

The conservation team’s next event will be an outdoor classroom workday on May 30 at the James Leal Centre in Snakes Lane East, Woodford Green.
