Passenger refused ticket at Ilford station ‘because he didn’t say please’

A passenger was refused a ticket at Ilford train station on Sunday “because he didn’t say please”.
The man, who did not want to be identified, said he “got a lesson” from the ticket booth assistant at the station, in Cranbrook Road.
He wrote on Twitter: “I was refused a ticket because I forgot to use the word ‘please’ to the help desk lady.
“Don’t forget to say please otherwise you will not be served.”
Greater Anglia, which runs the station on its Metro line from Liverpool Street to Shenfield, said they were “concerned” to hear of the incident.
A spokesman said: “Rudeness or discourtesy on the part of our staff is not tolerated and we are sorry if a customer has been given cause to complain about this.
“We have taken steps to address this matter with the employee involved and offer our sincere apologies to the customer.”
