It may not feel like anywhere near Christmas yet, but with just five weeks to go until the big day, it’s time to crack out the festive knits and head down to the borough’s high streets to get into the spirit in style.

Redbridge Council has announced details of this year’s lights switch-ons and winter fairs, with celebrations to take place in Seven Kings, Wanstead, Chigwell and Barkingside.

So whether you want to meet the stars of this year’s Kenneth More Theatre pantomime, or watch performances from street dancers and school carollers, there will be something for even the most enthusiastic grinches.

Cllr Helen Coomb, the council’s cabinet member for property, planning and regeneration, said: “All the family are welcome as we light up Redbridge with our seasonal events. Throw on a scarf and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year with us! Take in the special music and performances and don’t forget to shop local – you’ll have your Christmas shopping all wrapped up in no time.”
