Thirteen students from a Woodford Green school have gained places to study at Oxbridge this year.

Nine students from Bancroft’s school, in High Road, have been offered places at Cambridge University and four at Oxford.

Those who have bagged Cambridge offers are Sonali Arora, Emman Bhangu, Jaspal Channar, Nasser Chowdhury, Ben Margetson-Rushmore, Lana Mawlood, George Nishimura, Abdullah Shakeel and Isma’eel Zia.

Daffodil Dhayaa, Jessica Hobbis, Will Ngassa and Caroline Wyatt are the recepients of Oxford offers.

Three of the students applied to study medicine and another three languages including Arabic, French, Spanish and Italian.

“We are delighted,” said head teacher Simon Marshall, but added: “We are also mindful of those who worked equally hard and were equally deserving of places, but who have unfortunately missed out.”
