Ten former vicars and curates led a party to mark the 125th anniversary of a church built for servants.
St Andrew’s Church, Chingford Lane, Woodford Green celebrated with fish and chips as its anniversary, which fell on Saturday, is also St Andrew’s Day.
Saint Andrew was a Christian Apostle and the brother of Saint Peter.
Reverend Annie McTighe said: “It’s a real church in the community. The people have a heart to see Woodford loved by God. It’s a real privilege to work with such good, lovely and kind people who like to have a bit of fun.”
The church was originally built for servants while their masters would go to All Saints’, Inmans Row, Woodford Green.
