A coffee morning at the North East London NHS Treatment Centre has raised more than £220 for the charity.

On Friday, September 29, staff baked and sold cakes at the centre in Barley Lane, Goodmayes in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event raised £226 and the team is now applying to Care UK’s match-funding scheme to further boost the total.

Hospital director Kerry White said: “The team was incredibly generous, making and donating cakes to sell on the day.

“The cakes and refreshments were greatly enjoyed by patients and visitors to the centre and I certainly enjoyed my share.”

She also said that she was very proud of her team for taking part in the coffee morning.

“They are dedicated, hard-working healthcare professionals, administrators, cleaners and maintenance people, yet they find the time to organise events that raise money for worthwhile charities that carry out important work, research and support.”
