Ilford’s Kenneth More Theatre will be largely unaffected by the Olympics its manager has said, in the wake of fears voiced by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The theatre in Oakfield Road, Ilford, will close as usual during the summer, from July 29 to September 1, missing much of the Olympic period – July 27 to August 12.

Andrew Lloyd Webber told the media last week he feared there would be a “bloodbath of a summer” for London’s theatres as few people would be attending shows during this year’s games.

Theatre manager Steven Day said: “The three shows we run for the rest of that time have their own regular audience, so I can’t see us being at all affected luckily.”

The Paralympic Games fall just after the Olympics, from August 29 to September 9.
