A NIGHT club has been shut down by police weeks after a gunman murdered one doorman and seriously wounded another outside the premises.

Blue Ice Bar, in Cranbrook Road, Ilford, had its licence suspended at a licensing sub-committee hearing at Redbridge Town Hall last night (Monday).

The venue owned by Oner Hassan, who lives above the club, was inspected several times by police and council officers following the shooting on March 1.

Pc Steve Bromley from Redbridge licensing listed unregistered door supervisors, absence of female door supervisors contrary to the license, no working CCTV cameras and lack of search wands for door staff as reasons for the closure.

"We had lost confidence in the management of the club because of the breaches, which kept occurring," Pc Bromley told the Recorder.

"The licence will be suspended while a full review is carried out. The full review will have all my concerns and evidence in the package.

"It is a fact that we don't feel the club is being run properly and the safety of the public is at risk."

Cllrs took the decision behind closed doors. See Thursday's Recorder for the full story.
