A new campaign group has been formed in Redbridge with the aim of increasing voter registration and turnout.

Redbridge Votes volunteers will be out in force in Ilford Town Centre on Saturday to provide help to anyone that wants to vote but is confused by the registration process.

The group has been formed by local media consultant and journalist, Kris Sangani, pictured above.

It is intended to be a multi-party and multi-faith effort and will seek endorsement from all major political parties and candidates in the borough.

“How we register to vote has changed. It is now the responsibility of the individual – and not the household – to ensure that they are on the electoral register. It’s relatively easy. All you need is your address and your national insurance number,” said Mr Sangani.
