Traffic lights at a “dangerous” junction by Newbury Park Tube station where two people have died are up and running after years of campaigning.
Transport for London (TfL) started installing the signals, in Eastern Avenue, in August because of safety concerns over cars turning across the eastbound carriageway.
Jothi Sriskandapalan, 29, was killed in a collision with another car at the junction in May.
It is believed her husband, Ramesh, was waiting to be picked up outside the station in sight of the junction at the time.
The couple lived in Aldborough Road North with their two-year-old son Ajishan.
Residents and councillors had been campaigning for changes at the junction for years after countless crashes, including one less than a day after Mrs Sriskandapalan’s death.
Previous victim Dusan Danilovic, 69, was killed in a pile-up on January 1, 2011.
The new traffic lights will stop traffic so cars can turn into the station from the westbound carriageway safely from a filter lane.
