Ilford High Street McDonald’s wins Loo of the Year

A high-tech upgrade at Barkingside McDonald’s will create 15 new jobs.

Lee Scott, MP for Ilford North, visited the fast food chain last week, to see the new self-service kiosks, digital menu boards and tablet computers.

The interior and exterior of the restaurant was also redesigned.

Franchisee John Loizou said: “Staying ahead of customer expectations is vital and the new technology we’ve introduced in this restaurant recognises the way people live their lives today.

“It’s not just about providing a fresh, new environment though – I also believe in investing in my people and am delighted to be able to create around 15 new jobs as a result of the re-design.”

The McDonald’s in Ilford High Road has also received some good news.

Its loos have been awarded the top gong at the ‘Toilet Oscars.’

The Independent Loo of the Year awards recognise the best toilets across the UK.

Ilford franchisee Zulfikar Somji and crew bagged a gold award for the quality of the restaurant’s toilet facilities, hygiene and interior decor.
