New play park in Seven Kings edges closer to reality with grant award

A new play park planned in Seven Kings has been granted a further £3,750.
Organisers want a floodlit muti-use games area, play equipment and an outdoor gym for the park in Vicarage Lane.
They have been gathering funding from the council, donors and schools for five years but hope to have it finally finished in March.
Speaking at a meeting of area committee seven last week, Cllr Elaine Norman, deputy mayor of Redbridge, said: “This project has the support from the whole community and they have worked for the last five years to make it a reality.
“There’s nothing there for young people and it used to be a hotspot for crime.”
Nearby schools St Aidan’s Catholic Primary and the Palmer Catholic Academy will be able use the facilities along with nearby residents, who currently have to travel more than a mile to the nearest park.
