Residents and councillors gathered to officially open a new housing development of more than 100 homes in Chadwell Heath last week.
Grove Farm, in High Road, has 112 “affordable” properties, including apartments and three and four bedroom houses.
A supported living scheme of eight flats will be available for the council to use for people with special requirements.
There is outdoor space and a nursery for young children and babies. The mayor of London’s office allocated £11.6million of funding for the project.
The mayor of Redbridge, Cllr Felicity Banks, cut the ribbon to officially open the development before meeting residents and joining a fair including a barbecue, bouncy castle, face painting, music and games.
She was joined by Cllr Michelle Dunn, the cabinet member for housing, said Grove Farm was a “real asset” to Redbirdge.
She added: “Grove Farm is delivering exactly the type of housing our residents need.
“It will provide affordable housing and help people get onto the property ladder, while at the same time free up under occupied family homes so that overcrowded residents can move into them.”
