An Emmerdale star has temporarily left the ITV soap as her character bid an emotional farewell to the village.

Actress Amy Walsh, who plays Tracy Robinson, is taking time off the show for maternity leave after having her second baby with husband and former EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith.

The soap star filmed her exit in February, taking to social media at the time to reveal it was her last day on set after 12 years, having joined back in 2014.

Now, her emotional final scenes have aired, with Tracy deciding to leave the Yorkshire village with her daughter Frankie.

Amy's exit storyline saw Tracy reveal to her sister Vanessa Woodfield that she had been speaking to Cara Robinson, the mother of her late husband, Nate.

Cara offered Tracy a new job, offering herself and her daughter Frankie a fresh start.

Tracy packed up and left the village, having a heart-to-heart with Vanessa as well as saying goodbye to Cain, Nate’s dad and Frankie’s grandad.

Cain, who is currently battling prostate cancer, told Amy that he would visit once they were settled and he’d had his surgery.

Emmerdale fans took to social media saying how they will miss Tracy and Frankie after their exit.

One wrote: "I like Tracy, she needs a good storyline when she returns.

"Her and Billy were good together."

When asked if they will miss Amy, another fan wrote: "Yeeees and little Frankie (not so little now).

"However, I really approve the move to Frankie's grandma (Cara) to be "closer" to Nate.

"It's just what they all need and I hope Tracey can heal after Nate's death.

"Frankie deserves to be spoiled by her grandma."

Amy revealed the pregnancy news last year, and later told fans that it would be her second daughter.

She welcomed her daughter with her husband, Toby-Alexander, earlier this month.

Sharing a black and white photo of her newborn daughter’s feet, she wrote on Instagram: "This time last week I was heading into established labour.

"We’ve been in the most magical bubble ever since."

Which Emmerdale stars have left the show recently?

Emmerdale has seen a mix of temporary and permanent exits recently, with a few having already left this year and some last year.

Isabel Hodgins, like Amy, is also taking a break from Emmerdale after welcoming her first baby with husband, Adam Whitehead.

Isabel, who has played Victoria Sugden in Emmerdale for nearly 20 years, said she "felt ready" for the break from filming .

Victoria left the village for a new life in Portugal, but did tell Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) that she would return.

Reports have also revealed that Olivia Bromley, who has been on the show since 2018, has been axed from the ITV soap.

"Olivia is adored by everyone at Emmerdale so the decision to axe her has not gone down well at all," a source told The Sun .

"She’s a popular member of the cast and if they can get rid of Olivia then the feeling is virtually no-one is safe.

"Olivia understood their decision and is preparing to film her exit in the coming months."

ITV declined to comment when approached by Newsquest.

Joe Absolom, who played the dangerous drug dealer Ray Walters, also left earlier this year after his character was killed by Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards).

The exits follow the likes of Rachael Gill-Davis as Gail Loman and Paula Lane as Ella Forster, who left in 2025.

Despite some characters leaving, some returns are coming, with the likes of Mandy Dingle on that list.

Lisa Riley made a temporary exit to take part in last year's I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, where she finished fifth.
