A cheque for more than £2,000 was presented to the former Mayor of Redbridge by a Muslim scout group.
The Muslim 7th Goodmayes Scout Group completed a sponsored walk of 12 miles earlier this year passing various Muslim places of worship and community centres.
The children raised £2,400.
They presented the cheque to Cllr Muhammed Javed on Friday at the Hargreaves Scout Campsite, Hainault Road, Newbury Park.
Scout leader Tahir Mahmud said: “All of the awards and badges given out to the youngsters are extremely well deserved.”
