A women's group has raised more than £600 for the new Mayor of Redbridge's chosen charity.
Redbridge Disabled Women’s Welfare Association (RDWWA) met Cllr Linda Huggett, who was sworn in last Thursday.
Cllr Huggett, whose theme for her year as mayor is “care in the community”, is raising money for Haven House Children’s Hospice and Saint Francis Hospice.
On Monday, she met with RDWWA, who raised money for Saint Francis and collected donations to be sold.
Organiser Abida Iqbal, chairwoman of the RDWWA, said: “Saint Francis has a special place in my heart as my husband spent his last 24 hours in its wonderful care.
“We were also very honoured to welcome our new Mayor of Redbridge and Cllr Bob Littlewood, who collected the donations.
“We are looking forward to working with Madam Mayor throughout the year.”
Saint Francis provides all of its services free of charge to support patients from the community with life-limiting illness.
