Muslim Action Forum rally in central London

Thousands of Muslims have peacefully protested against the reprinting of the caricature of the Prophet Muhammad.

Goodmayes business owner Dr Ifzaal Siddiqui, 42, attended the march outside Downing Street where a petition was delivered calling for global civility.

“What we are trying to achieve is for everyone to respect each other,” said Dr Siddiqui, who helped organise the rally.

“Yes as Muslims we respect all of the prophets and we expect from other religions.

“We should all respect each other – Jews, Christians and Muslims.”

Dr Siddiqui admitted the Muslim community finds it hard to see the Prophet Muhammad depicted at all, but said in the western world it would have to “compromise”.

The rally was also attended by several hundred Muslim scholars from across the country.

“It was fully charged but very peaceful,” he added.
“People were showing their love for the prophet.”
