The second festival of the year from Redbridge Music Lounge attracted almost 400 people to the Valentines Mansion walled garden.

A total of seven acts played to a crowd of avid music lovers on Sunday, at the beautiful venue off Emerson Road, Ilford, including 80-year-old Irish folk singer John Cain.

Each performer was of a different genre, and organiser Steve Collins, of the Green Fair Music Club, told the Recorder he believes this is the key to the event’s ongoing success.

“A lot of people mentioned the diversity of the acts,” he said.

“After John Cain we had a jazz funk quartet called Heads UP! and before we had a sitar and tabla duo, Rimpy and Kuldeep.

“Over the seven events this year we will have 50 different acts playing a range of music.”

The next music festival in Valentines Mansion’s walled garden is on June 11, and the Green Fair Music Club is holding its showcase at the RAFA Club, in Cranbrook Road, Ilford, on Friday.
