A dedicated firefighter who gave more than 40 years to the brigade has finally hung up his helmet.
Trevor Oakley, 63, retired from the London Fire Brigade on Friday (May 20) after a career which spanned Dagenham, Stratford, Leytonstone and Redbridge.
Veteran Mr Oakley, of Rochford Avenue, Little Heath had become a “familiar face” in Redbridge, where he has spent the past 21 years in schools and public places working as a fire safety inspector for the London Fire Brigade.
His wife, Tricia Oakley, said: “We don’t have any plans for retirement, just some hard earned rest.”
