A charity which held a special lunch with a celebrity guest to raise money for multiple sclerosis has raised £1,450.

For Those In Need has been holding the lunches for 35 years and have been graced with the company of the likes of TV presenter Chris Tarrant, journalist Matthew Wright and comedian Jo Brand.

This year actress, author and historian Kate Williams was welcomed to the event at the Prince Regent Hotel, in Manor Road, Woodford Bridge.

The charity’s treasurer, Eileen Vilka, said: “Everyone enjoyed themselves and the guests were very generous towards our raffle.

“Having a celebrity guest is always wonderful, Kate Williams was very entertaining as she told us all about her life, and how she started acting, the TV shows she had been on.”

The successful meal was also attended by the Mayor of Redbridge, Cllr Ashley Kissin, and his mayoress wife Hilary.
