MP Iain Duncan Smith will stand again in the Chingford and Woodford Green seat at the next general election.
Mr Duncan Smith, who has held the seat since 1997, was confirmed as the candidate for the Conservative Party on Friday.
At an executive meeting of the Chingford and Woodford Green Conservative Association, members voted “unanimously” in favour of Mr Duncan Smith, according to deputy chair for finance and membership Susan Herrington.
Mr Duncan Smith, who is the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, said: “I am very pleased that my association has adopted me as the Conservative candidate.
“Now it is over to the people of Chingford and Woodford Green to elect me at the next general election.
“Hopefully they will.
“I have always enjoyed representing them, it is always a great challenge and a privilege.”
The constituency boundaries were due to be redrawn until the House of Lords and Labour and Liberal Democrat MPs voted to delay a boundary review until 2018.
The next general election will be held in 2015.
Mr Duncan Smith was elected as the MP for Chingford in 1992 before being re-elected to the redrawn Chingford and Woodford Green constituency five years later.
The Recorder is awaiting a comment from Mr Duncan Smith.
