A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after an accident on the A406, causing heavy congestion on the Ilford flyover.

One lane is blocked heading southbound as emergency services respond to the incident, which was an accident involving a lorry, a motorbike and a car.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman confirmed they were called to the flyover at 3.35pm to reports that a man had come off his bike.

She said: “The circumstances around the incident are now being investigated and the biker was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

“The extent of his injuries remains unclear.”

Congestion is currently backed up to Redbridge roundabout.
