Motorcyclist dies and man arrested after rush hour crash on A12

Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following a fatal collision in Newbury Park that closed a busy junction for almost four hours earlier today.
A man in his mid 40s has died after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on the A12 eastbound at Ley Street junction with Horns Road, in Newbury Park, this morning.
The car stopped at the scene and the driver, a male in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.
He is currently in custody at an east London police station.
Police, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene to find a a male motorcyclist seriously injured.
He was taken to an east London hospital where he died just after 9.30am.
His next of kin have not yet been informed.
Formal identification awaits and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
The junction was closed for just under four hours, but has now reopened fully.
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating.

Several bus routes were impacted including the 66, 169, 296 and 396 but those services have now returned to normal.
