More than a thousand primary school children from Redbridge took part in one of the largest children’s sporting events in London.
The Redbridge Mini Games saw around 1,500 pupils from 35 primary schools compete against each other in a variety of sports, including cricket, football and tennis.
Other mini sports on the day held at last week’s event at Redbridge Sports and Leisure Centre, included quad kids athletics, squash, gymnastics and handball.
Churchfields Junior School, South Woodford, was the overall winner, after results from additional sports competitions held throughout the year were taken into account.
These included football, boccia, netball, hockey, sports hall athletics and swimming events.
Churchfields and winning students in the individual categories, apart from those in the squash and handball categories, will now be entered into a London-wide mini games in July to represent Redbridge.
The nine winning schools were: Downshall Primary; St Aubyns School; Bancroft’s School; Aldersbrook Primary; SS Peter and Paul School; Mossford Green Primary; Gilbert Colvin Primary and Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School.
