Prostitutes’ clients were the focus of a police crackdown in Ilford last month.

Loxford Safer Neighbourhood Team and the Area Three Territorial Support Group launched a pro-active kerb crawling operation in Ilford Lane to address the issue.

Operation Street was specifically to target men who use prostitutes’ services, and 11 men were arrested over the course of two days. All were later charged and will be appearing in court this month.

The operation is the third one of its kind that the team have conducted in the last three months, and as a result of these, 100 prostitute cautions have been issued, 12 have been arrested and charged, seven have been issued with anti-social behaviour orders in court and 13 are due to appear in court this month.

As well as this, 42 kerb-crawlers are on anti-social behaviour contracts.
