Pupils at Manford Primary School enjoyed an afternoon of cake and garden games as they held a birthday party for the Queen on Monday.

The school, in Manford Way, Hainault, is holding a British Heritage to honour Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday.

As part of the celebrations all 500 of the school’s children headed out onto the field after lunch to join in a chorus of the national anthem before breaking for British party games and photo-ops with Her Majesty herself in cardboard.

Lynn Carleton, deputy headteacher at the school, said: “All the kids really enjoyed it, they learnt all about curtseying and bowing.

“It was a lovely afternoon actually, it really was.”
