A man was taken to hospital after a collision in Wanstead last night.

Police and ambulance services were called to the junction of Blake Hall Road and Aldersbrook Road at around 1am last night (Thursday, March 8).

Two cars were involved in the collision, and a Met Police spokesman said that one male was taken to hospital with injuries that were not deemed life threatening.

The spokesman said that enquiries into the circumstances of the collision were ongoing.

Scott Whitehead, 46, of Wanstead Park Avenue was cycling home from work when he saw the incident and told the Recorder that he saw a bus driver directing traffic.

He said: “I went past the incident but it looked like it was under control.

“There wasn’t a great deal to tell.

“It looked like the car was coming from the Leyton side of the junction,

“I just saw blue lights, there was one police car at the scene and I think there was an ambulance on its way because I could see more blue lights before I left.

“A bus driver was out directing the traffic, it looked like the bus had been just behind the cars when they hit.

“It looked like both cars would be write offs.”
