Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in Valentines Park, Ilford.

Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to reports of an injured man in Valentines Park, Perth Road, at 4.28pm yesterday (May 28).

They attended to find a 28-year-old man suffering stab injuries to his back and neck at the scene.

He was taken by LAS to an east London hospital where his condition was deemed not life threatening.

The suspect is described as an Asian man between 20 and 30 years old.

He was wearing a long green jacket and carried an eight-inch, silver-bladed knife with a brown handle.

Immediately following the attack he left the scene on foot in the direction of Perth Road.

Enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed the stabbing or saw the suspect either before of after what appears to have been an unprovoked attack.
