A man is in hospital with a bleed on the brain after he was knocked to the ground by a single punch in Ilford.

Police are appealing for information about the attack which happened outside Champs Sports Bar, Chapel Road, on May 6 at around 3.30am.

The 35-year-old victim hit his head and he remains in hospital in a serious condition.

The suspect who threw the punch is described as a white man with a tattoo on his right arm.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a red t-shirt and dark baseball cap.

Det Con Jim White, said: “This is an appalling assault that has left the victim in a critical condition.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward and speak with police without delay.”

There have been no arrests and inquiries continue.
