A man was found dead in Wanstead Park on Saturday evening.

Police were called at 7.55pm to reports of an unresponsive male bleeding in Wanstead Park, Northumberland Avenue, Wanstead.

The London Ambulance Service also attended and the man, believed to be aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokeswoman for the police said: “A post mortem examination took place at East Ham Mortuary on 18 July and given cause of death as blood loss.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained although the police are not treating this death as suspicious.”

The police are trying to establish the identity of the man and to trace his next of kin.

Witnesses are asked to come forward.
