Man found dead after crews tackle house fire in Newbury Park

A man has been found dead after police came across a house fire in the early hours of this morning.

The London Fire Brigade received a call at 1.20am to Horns Road, Newbury Park.

Firefighters from Hainault, Woodford and Ilford attended the scene and extinguished the blaze before discovering the body of a man inside the address.

A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 1.20am to reports of a fire at a terraced house with two floors. 25 per cent of the first floor was damaged by fire.”

The man was confirmed dead at the scene and next of kin are yet to be informed.

No one else has been reported as suffering injuries.

The death is being treated as unexplained while the brigade investigates the cause of the fire.
