A 25-year-old man has been arrested for working illegally at a petrol station in Gants Hill.
The man from India was working at K&S London UK in Beehive Lane when Home Office immigration officers visited on Thursday.
The man was arrested and found to have overstayed his visa.
He is now in immigration detention.
The company was given a warning notice about a civil penalty of up to £10,000 per illegal worker if correct checks were not carried out.
Steve Fisher, from the Home Office Immigration Enforcement team, said: “We carry out operations like this in north east London almost every day.
“Where we find people who are in the UK illegally we will seek to remove them.”
