A 28-year-old man has been fined after he approached a woman he thought was a prostitute and asked for sex.
The woman, an undercover police officer, taped the conversation on Friday February 6 in Ilford Lane – an area notorious for sex workers.
Constantin Vaduva, of Woodlands Road, Ilford, was fined £40 in total for soliciting, after he pleaded guilty to the charge at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court.
Vaduva will pay a further £85 in court costs plus a victim surcharge of £25.
Solicitor Nijole O’Brien, prosecuting, said: “The defendant said to the plain clothed officer, “Sex?”
“The comments were recorded on tape. The defendant later said his comments were a joke.”
Mr Khan, mitigating, said his client was “aware” of Ilford Lane’s reputation.
“He does not indulge in that type of activity,” he added. “He is a father of two young children and his wife is pregnant with a third.”
