Instead of going through the motions and buying the token chocolates and flowers why not find a unique gift that someone has poured time, love and energy into this Valentine’s Day?
Valentines Mansion, Emerson Road, Ilford, is holding a Made with Love fair, showcasing the very best in bespoke homeware, jewellery, handmade crafts and artisan food.
Jewellery designer Anna Kepinska, of Ilford, will be displaying her handcrafted bead designs and said she takes inspiration from walking through Valentines Park.
“The colours are everywhere, I find it in my garden, in the park, especially in spring,” she said.
“The colours are the most important thing and influence my designs”
Anna, who started making jewellery after her son was born, loves the atmosphere at markets and shops and uses them herself to find unique presents.
“Someone will spend a lot of time to make sure it is of good quality – a lot of love has gone into it. I spend a lot of hours to make one thing. I want to make sure it is perfect and lasts.”
As well as beaded bracelets visitors to the fair can buy soap, framed pictures and keepsakes made out of old baby clothes.
Also exhibiting at Made With Love is potter Sarah Partridge.
She makes decorative and functional ceramics and will be debuting her range of noodle bowls in white porcelain with black detailing.
“It is important to support local artists rather than mass produced manufacturers,” she said. “It’s not just a day job for people in cottage industries or small workshops. They aren’t paid by the hour, they pour their heart and soul into it.”
Guests will also have the chance to meet talented studio artists working on their amazing creations in the mansion.
Made with Love is on Sunday, 10am-4pm, call 020 8708 8100.
