A man who was hit by a train during Friday evening's rush hour somehow escaped with only minor injuries and did not even have to go to hospital.
Paramedics and officers of the British Transport Police were called to Ilford Station, Cranbrook Road, at 4.35pm on Friday to reports of a person hit by a train.
A BTP spokeswoman said: “The victim was a 57-year-old man. He sustained only minor injuries and was taken to a place of safety.
“Officers are not treating the incident as suspicious.”
TfL Rail and Greater Anglia Services between Stratford and Seven Kings were delayed or cancelled for around half an hour in the wake of the incident, and eyewitnesses reported seeing London’s Air Ambulance land in the town centre.
