A South Woodford couple are taking on the London marathon together for a cause very close to their hearts.

Rowan Hartley, 32, and girlfriend Nikki Hudson, 31, are running for the charity Sense, who help those with hearing disabilities, just like they did for Nikki, who had surgery to treat hearing loss.

Rowan said: “Nikki has had trouble with her hearing and up until two years ago had partial hearing loss. Luckily, she had it corrected through surgery. I am really looking forward to running for Sense”.

Rowan hopes to finish the race in less than five hours, with Nikki setting the pace with a target time of four hours 15 minutes.

Between them they have raised more than £1000 toward their target of £1500.

Nikki said: “When I first found out that I was selected to run the London marathon I was in utter shock. I thought I wouldn’t be able to run that far”.
