A children’s mentor is embarking on his fourth marathon, raising money for children’s charity Phabkids.

Michael Perkins, 46, said: “The last one I did was in 2009 for children’s charity Barnardo’s, but I’ve been running ever since.

“Last time I did it in about four hours and 28 minutes, but I’m hoping to do it in four this time.”

Michael, who works with children with special needs in Chigwell, is running for Phabkids, which provides activities and holidays for children and adults with disabilities, offering support, residential projects and social opportunities for people with special needs.

Michael, who lives in Dagenham, is being supported through his training by his wife and seven-year-old twins.

“They weren’t born for the last one I did, so I think they’re quite excited about it. They’ve helped with the JustGiving page.”
