Woodford Green decathlete sets massive PB in the 100m

Daniel Awde launched his decathlon competition in perfect fashion as he smashed his personal best by 0.14 seconds to win his 100 metres heat.

The Woodford Green with Essex Ladies athlete thrived off the huge roar from the home crowd and clocked 10.71 seconds to score 926 points.

The 24-year-old, who finished 21st at the Beijing Games in 2008 is in seventh place ahead of the long jump competition which commences at 11.10am.

Awde will also compete in the shot put, high jump and 400m today.
