Topics such as the voluntary sector, equalities legislation and the possibility of a new swimming pool in the borough are set to be debated at a hustings meeting tonight.
Hosted by Ramfel (the Refugee and Migrant Forum of East London) and the Redbridge Rainbow Community, the event will see four candidates go head-to-head at the Redbridge Council of Voluntary Services, in Forest House, Clements Road, Ilford.
They are Cllr Ian Bond, leader of the Liberal Democrats and deputy leader of Redbridge Council, Conservative Cllr Paul Canal, Cllr Wes Streeting, Labour’s deputy leader, and Green Party candidate John Tyne, who is standing in Chadwell ward.
Ukip declined to send a representative and Cllr Filly Maravala, representing the Independent Loxford group, declined due to illness.
