A speed gun will be returned to the council after being out of use since November, so it can be re-calibrated and then given back to the police.
Councillors were left frustrated that the equipment, which was paid for out of area committee funds, had not been re-calibrated despite them deciding to pay the £300 for the work earlier this year.
Cllr Nick Hayes said: “I fail to see why there has been confusion after we agreed it would be paid for. This is frustrating and insane, what was the purpose in buying it if wasn’t going to get used.”
Sgt Dom Brown also revealed that there were no officers trained to use the gun, despite it only taking around “one hour”.
Cllr Alex Phillips added: “The costs of getting the gun re-calibrated is a small price to pay for the safety of our residents.”
