Appeals for a speed camera to tame drivers “speeding” down a Newbury Park road have fallen on deaf ears.
Cllrs Vanessa Cole and Ruth Clark wanted a camera in Aldborough Road North.
But area committee four, meeting on Thursday in William Torbitt Primary School, Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park, was told because there has only been one minor accident in the road in three years, it does meet Transport for London’s criteria to have a speed camera installed.
Cllr Cole said the speeding issue was particularly bad at the road’s junction with Painters Road.
The two councillors instead proposed a permanent flashing “slow down” sign be installed at a cost of £2,500-3,000.

The committee agreed to delegate a decision on the signs to the chairman, deputy chairman, ward councillors and lead officer.
