The Redbridge Green Fair was granted £1,000 at the area committee six meeting in Redbridge Central Library, High Road, Ilford, last week.

All councillors voted in favour of the grant requested by Ros Southern, chair of the Redbridge Green Fair Association, in aid of their proposed music and arts event.

However, the committee asked in return for a report before their next meeting on the success of the previous year’s event in order to see if investment in the borough-wide event is justified.

Cllr Filly Maravala said: “We need to know if this money is spent well.”

Mrs Southern requested the money from area six, despite it falling under area committee seven’s remit, as she said it benefits the whole borough.
